We’ve prepared the information below to help you enjoy a safe and comfortable stay at Green Cottage. If anything is unclear or not working as expected, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help.
Directions
Address — Frognal Farmhouse, Lower Road, Teynham, ME9 9BY
By Car — Take the M2 to Faversham. At Faversham head towards Teynham. Once in the village turn into Frognal Lane. At the end of the lane turn left. We are the first house on the left. Turn into the driveway (just after the house by the first telegraph pole). Our entrance gate is at the far end of the courtyard on the left-hand side. If the gates are open, please drive in and park. If you need to get our attention, please use the bell by the gate.
By Train — Teynham station is 900m away (about a 15-minute walk). Please note: the last section of the road leading to the property is a rural country lane without a pathway.
General Information
There are a range of facilities to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable stay in the Green Cottage. If something is not working, please let us know; we will do our very best to sort it out.
Candles — Please do not use any candles or tea lights inside any building. We have battery-operated candles for guest use if you would like to borrow them. They look very real.
Dishwasher — Dishwasher tablets are located in the kitchen drawer.
Dogs — Family dogs are welcome. Please let us know in advance. Dispose of dog waste in the green bin.
Hair dryer — Available on request.
Heating — The electric heaters are programmed to run during the day and at a reduced temperature at night. The temperature is fully adjustable. Please do not cover the heaters; this is a fire risk.
Hot water — The water heats automatically overnight. In the unlikely event that you run out of hot water, press the boost button twice on each control panel in the hallway. See the picture at the bottom of this page.
Iron & board — Available on request.
Keys — A set of keys will be left in the lounge by the TV. The keys have been cleaned and placed in a plastic bag.
Kitchen ceramic hob — The hob has a child-lock facility. To unlock, press and hold the padlock symbol for 5 seconds.
Toothbrush — Forgotten your toothbrush or toothpaste? Not a problem. We have a few spares. Just ask.
Radio — The TVs are all connected to the internet and give access to thousands of radio stations.
Smoking — Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside any building.
TV — Enjoy a wide selection of TV and radio stations. The TVs are all connected to the internet.
WC — Please don’t flush rubbish, condoms or sanitary towels down the loo. Use the disposal bags by the bin in the shower room.
Wifi — The guest Wi-Fi is “Quince”. The password is printed on the card by the TV in the lounge. The Wi-Fi extends to the garden.
Recycling
Please help us recycle waste materials.
Separate cardboard, paper, glass bottles and tins, rinse them, and place them in the white bags.
Collect food waste and place it in the clear bag in the food caddy.
Household rubbish should go in the black bags.
Please place rubbish and recycling bags outside the cottage; we will remove and dispose of them for you.
External facilities
Please feel free to enjoy the garden.
BBQ — A gas-fired BBQ is available. Ask for the BBQ kit, which includes utensils. If the gas bottle runs out, please let us know and we will change it. The handle can become hot; use an oven glove to open the lid. Take extra care with hot surfaces and oils. Please do not allow young people to use the BBQ.
Candles — Candles, tea lights and other naked flames should only be used at least 5 metres away from any building. Please use a suitable tray or holder. Take care not to burn furniture or start a fire.
Fire pit — Please use only the metal waste bin to dispose of fire ashes.
Fire risk — During the summer the garden can be very dry and there is an increased risk of fire.
Fireworks — Regrettably, fireworks of any kind are not permitted. There is significant risk to the historic timber structure.
Swing — Please ensure young people are supervised at all times. The height of the seat can be adjusted to suit age.

Things to do
Stay at Frognal — Enjoy the garden, use the barbecue, play a game or simply relax and read a book. We would also be delighted to show you around the main house, which is currently under restoration. Parts of it date from before 1400.
Walks — There are many walks in the area. A selection of our favourites can be found on our dedicated walking page.
Bikes — Bring your bike. There are some beautiful cycle routes in the area. You may also enjoy Kart Racing Circuit.
Swimming — If you fancy a dip in the sea, there are several award-winning Blue Flag beaches nearby, including Leysdown and Seasalter. There is also swimming at Faversham (indoor and outdoor pools) and an indoor pool at Sittingbourne.
Rainy days — Even on damp days there is plenty to do. Suggestions include a trampoline park, Laser Quest and the climbing centre. For enquiring minds, visit Dover Castle, Wingham Wildlife Park, Canterbury Roman Museum or the Historic Dockyard at Chatham.
Houses and gardens — Mount Ephraim Country House & Gardens; Belmont House and garden.
Faversham — Historic market town with indoor and outdoor (summer only) swimming pools.
Whitstable — Harbour town with small shops and, of course, oysters.
Margate — Sandy beach and the Turner Contemporary Gallery.
Canterbury — Home of Canterbury Cathedral and a historic city with many independent shops. Lovely walks along the river meadows in the south-west of the city towards Chatham. Marlowe Theatre.
Leeds Castle — Beautiful grounds and one of the most attractive castles in the country.
Rochester — Home of Rochester Cathedral and a historic medieval town, closely associated with Charles Dickens.

In the event of fire
- Please leave the building by the nearest exit.
- Leave all personal items behind.
- Go to the assembly point by the main grey gates.
- Call the fire service on 999.
No smoking or naked flames, such as candles or tea lights, inside any building. Do not tamper with or remove any smoke detectors.
